Ice Hockey is a kind of collective competitive sport that uses ice skates and hockey sticks as tools to compete on the ice. It consists of men's and women's events, and is an independent winter sport in the international sports taxonomy.
Ice hockey emerged later than sports such as football, hockey, and speed skating. According to research, modern ice hockey originated in Canada. W.F. Robertson, a British student studying in Canada, excelled in ice skating. He moved the hockey he learned during his studies in the UK to ice hockey and combined it with the characteristics of "La Crosse ball" to create a new ice sport - ice hockey in 1783.
The important international organizations of ice hockey include the National Ice Hockey Federation and the International Ice Hockey Federation.
